Wednesdays: Sammy Steele Band

Lady Luck's Cowgirl Up

By Bobble Tiki on July 18, 2011

While Bobble Tiki was bathing in early '90s Northwest flannel, four great Americana alt-country acts in Whiskeytown, BR5-49, Wilco, and the last stages of Uncle Tupelo were busy inventing a genre. While many of the pioneers are pushing alt-country/ Americana into vital new (usually ambient or experimental) territory, it's nice to see a local act weigh in with its own interpretation. The Sammy Steele Band adds soul to a country-roots-indie-rock sound ... but not a distinct pigeonhole. You'll hear things - specific things - you've thought or felt or dreamed. You'll also hear a cover or four.

The Sammy Steele Band has found a regular gig headlining Lady Luck's Cowgirl Up Military Appreciation night on Wednesdays. Hitch yourself to a $10 Coors Light bucket or a $3.50 well, partner.
